Pandemic: A Driving Factor that Boosted the Demand for Commercial Furniture

COVID-19 led pandemic led to a rise in the need for a personalized space within the four walls of a home to create a work-from-home situation. This massively boosted the demand for office furniture. However, this continued trend still pertains in the post-COVID world where hybrid working conditions surged the demand for study tables and ergonomic chairs throughout the past year. According to the Guardians Real Estate Advisory, 2023 will also see the remote working model, which gave way to a hybrid work structure in 2022, change completely with the full-fledged return to the pre-pandemic structure of work from office (WFO). Therefore, CRE (commercial real estate), which has been on the rise last year, is expected to dominate with Grade-A offices in huge demand as big companies are seeking to expand their operations in the coming days.”

Overall, IKON’s research estimates a boom ahead for the Indian furniture industry due to leading industry growth, India’s rapidly expanding economy, a spurt in real estate (both residential and commercial) and burgeoning growth in the information technology and services sectors.

Modern commercial furniture is the trend post COVID-19. The demand for commercial furniture and product innovation go hand-in-hand. Upgradations in ergonomics to suit spaces and offer comfort, renovation and modification of spaces have boosted the growing demand for commercial furniture. FDT observes a staggering increase in demand that is surely in sight as the growth is mainly attributed to the increasing number of commercial spaces, IT parks catering to significant consumption of office furniture and the recent initiatives of providing comfortable working environments for employees.
