The living room is one of the most important rooms of a house. It is where one spends most of their time reading, watching television, hanging out with family and entertaining guests. However, it is a perfect sofa that plays an indispensable role in enhancing the true essence of a living room. Sofa, a fashionably comfortable and uncompromised centerpiece of the living space, today is an inevitable piece in any household.

The Evolution of Sofa

The 80s is often associated with excessive, gaudy and bulky furniture. Over the years, interior aesthetics in India evolved in keeping up with the changing times and preferences. COVID-19 led people to spend more time at home and turned the sofa into a goto item of furniture for seating and relaxing.

As living rooms transformed into integrated spaces within a house, sofas began to evolve and adapt as multi-functional elements. “Sofas doubling up as storage units are now becoming a cinch solution in tighter spaces. Most homes have started incorporating a home-office setup, thereby driving the need for dedicated areas for entertaining both personal and professional guests,” alludes Nomita Kohli, Co-Founder, Wisma Atria Interiors.
