A significant fire erupted at a furniture factory located in the HMT area, on the outskirts of Srinagar, as per reports. Reportedly, the fire ignited during the early hours of the day, prompting the dispatch of fire tenders to the scene. The flames were eventually extinguished after strenuous efforts by firefighting personnel and local residents, although the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The major fire incident ravaged three band saw mills and a plastic furniture unit on the outskirts of Srinagar, with no reported loss of life or injuries during the firefighting operation. As per Fire and Emergency Service officials, the fire occurred in the HMT Zainakote area, with investigations underway to determine its cause. The band saw mills and plastic furniture unit suffered extensive damage in the blaze, resulting in significant property loss.
12 firefighting engines rushed from various city centers to the site upon receiving information about the incident around 5:30 am, unfortunately the fire had already consumed a considerable portion of the units. The Fire and Emergency Service noted that over 60 per cent of the units had been damaged by the fire.
