Warburg Pincus Acquires Majority Stake in Ebco for Rs 3,200 Crore

Warburg Pincus, a prominent private equity fund, recently announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Ebco, a leading Indian company specializing in furniture fittings and architectural hardware. This transaction values Ebco between Rs 3,000 crore and Rs 3,200 crore. Despite the acquisition, the company’s promoters will reportedly retain a significant minority stake and will continue to play an active role in steering the business towards future growth. Founded in 1963 and headquartered in Mumbai, Ebco is one of India’s most established brands in its sector. The company offers a diverse product range, including fittings for beds and wardrobes, kitchen systems, office furniture components, window and door hardware and furniture lighting.

Reportedly, Avendus Capital served as the exclusive financial advisor for Ebco during this transaction. Geoffrey Nagpal, Managing Director of Ebco, reportedly expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that it positions the company to leverage strong industry growth prospects and expand its presence nationwide. Anish Saraf, Managing Director of Warburg Pincus India, also highlighted the favourable conditions driving growth in the Indian furniture fittings and architectural hardware market, including supportive demographics, rising demand for modular furniture and increasing home renovations.
