Designer Satyendra Pakhale has created a minimalistic furniture collection from birch wood. Comprising a chair, stool, bench and coffee tables, the Abhito collection is designed for the Danish brand Calyah. Know more on FURNITURE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (FDT).
The Abhito collection enables the flow of movement and liberty from the constraints of settled, sedentary living. Pakhale learned from his travels to the Chapada dos Veadeiros national park in Brazil and artisans working in the forest. As per Calyah, five per cent of the Abhito sales revenue will be used to support the upcoming generation of artists in underserved communities around the world.
The playful character of the collection expresses a nomadic yearning within contemporary life. The Abhito collection explores design through a conscious interplay of cultures. Named Satellite, the chair is designed to offer users an active sitting posture. In the seat of the chair, a handle cutout is created.
Abhito collection is available in natural, white or black stain finishes.
