Artistic Form and Function Flourish in this Baltic Birch Plywood Bench | Ionic Bench

FDT Bureau

Crafted from 1 inch thick Baltic Birch plywood, the Ionic Bench by Laurie Beckerman is meticulously manufactured using advanced CNC technology. The profile sections are skillfully layered together to form the structure. Know more about it on FURNITURE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (FDT).

Inspired by the Ionic column capital, the design of the Ionic Bench departs from the traditional dense stone appearance to emphasize the elegant lines of the form. This approach creates a bench that is airy, spacious and durable, with a person seated comfortably amidst two grand scrolls on either side. The dynamic lines of the Baltic birchwood layers infuse a sense of motion and vitality. The surfaces exposing the layers are meticulously smoothed and coated with high-quality Italian acrylic, resulting in a seat that is irresistibly smooth to the touch.

This exquisite, robust and exceedingly practical bench is an excellent addition to entry foyers or placed at the foot of a bed, with the scrolls offering storage functionality.
