MAWD Unveils Eco-Luxe Furniture Collection | MAWDmade

FDT Bureau

March and White Design (MAWD) recently unveiled its first furniture collection, MAWDmade. Launched during NYCxDesign week in the Designing Tomorrow exhibition, the collection features three made-to-order pieces. It includes a curled boucle dining chair made from Angora wool, regenerated cellulose and cotton; a lounge chair wrapped in leather dyed with Mediterranean olive leaves; and a side table with a veined marble top made from over 98 per cent recycled marble. Know more about it on FURNITURE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (FDT).

Each piece uses sustainably sourced materials certified by the International Living Future Institute’s Declare Label, ensuring the avoidance of harmful chemicals. 90 per cent of the materials in the collection are recyclable at the end of their lifecycle. Designed by MAWD founders Elliot March and James White, the collection had been showcased at the Sugarlift Gallery in Chelsea, New York, alongside artworks from gallery-represented artists chosen to complement the furniture. The collection emphasizes sustainable design and environmental responsibility.

The dining chair’s use of Angora wool, regenerated cellulose, and cotton highlights MAWD’s commitment to eco-friendly materials. The lounge chair’s leather, dyed with olive leaves, offers a sustainable alternative to conventional tanning processes, reducing the environmental impact. The side table’s recycled marble composition demonstrates innovative use of natural stone waste, promoting resource efficiency. MAWD’s approach ensures that the materials used are not only sustainable but also contribute to the longevity and recyclability of the products.
