Josmo Opens its First Mumbai Store

Marking a major milestone in its growth journey, Goa-based furniture label Josmo has launched its first flagship store outside its home state, in Mumbai. Founded in 2010 by designer and creative director Anjali Mody, Josmo is known for its unique blend of Indian craftsmanship with modern sensibilities. The new store is located on Annie Besant Road in the bustling Worli neighbourhood and has been reportedly conceptualised and designed by Mody herself. The space is thoughtfully divided into zones, featuring signature elements such as curving platforms, custom-built shelving and a dramatic ceiling installation of tassels. Many of the textured surfaces, including a striking bookcase at the entrance, are crafted using sawdust waste from Josmo’s Goa factory, maintaining the brand’s sustainable ethos.

Launched in November 2024 to coincide with the inaugural Design Mumbai fair, the showroom reportedly showcases Josmo’s 2024 collection alongside its bestsellers. The latest collection explores the intersection of digital fabrication and India’s rich heritage of handcrafting, producing pieces that are rooted in tradition yet modern. Quirky product names like the Biscoff side table and Cadbury box add a playful touch. More than just a display space, the store reportedly includes a dedicated room setup and a materials library, allowing customers to explore finishes and fabrics. The launch of the Mumbai store aligns with Josmo’s broader expansion plans, which include two upcoming factories and a new accessories line under the label Josmo Minis.
