A Coral-Inspired Collection In Foam Concrete By Ar. Sanjay Puri

Designed by Ar. Sanjay Puri, Corallite is a striking collection of lighting and furniture that draws deep inspiration from the organic forms, textures and ethereal beauty of coral reefs. The collection showcases a compelling union of nature-inspired aesthetics and sustainable innovation that is brought to life through a meticulous material and design process.

SHOWCASE IN FOAM CONCRETE
The collection includes uplighters, suspended lights and lighting integrated furniture such as centre and side tables. What distinguishes these elements is their dual function, where they effectively serve as sources of directed light and also glow from within through the pores of the material itself. This intrinsic illumination turns each object into a standalone sculpture, glowing with a quiet sparkle that mimics underwater coral formations.

Notable pieces in collection include: 
A 6ft tall cylindrical uplighter with a bold 2ft diameter, Hammer makes a sculptural statement in any space, while the slender Polyp with its 1’5” diameter and 6ft tall floor profile brings subtle elegance as a floor standing light. The Staghorn features a branching silhouette that introduces organic dynamism and spatial drama, in contract to the Grooves floor lamp’s subtle vertical appeal. Elkhorn-1 is a compact vertical pendant that adds focused sculptural detail to lighting clusters, while Elkhorn-2 offers a dramatic yet lightweight suspended form through its tall and wide configuration. With its rounded shape and two size options, Boulder adds weightless volume to overhead compositions. Mushroom is a low stool that doubles as a glowing accent, thus bringing form and function together. A large centre table with an illuminated base and toughened glass top, Starlet-1 serves a luminous focal point, while the compact Starlet-2 side table is perfect for ambient accent lighting. Each piece is crafted from foam concrete with a bone white finish, and is set on concrete base plates. They emit a warm 3000K glow and range from 6-20kg in weight. Suspended models use steel cables, and Starlet tables are topped with toughened glass.

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
At the heart of the collection is foam concrete (FEFS Board), a porous, tactile material that gives each piece its sculptural quality. This unique material allows light to gently permeate the surface, creating a diffused, glowing effect that not only illuminates but also highlights the material’s richly textured form. The result is a soft, ambient radiance that transforms each piece into a living, breathing object within the space it resides.

What sets Corallite apart is its deep commitment to sustainability. Each product is manufactured with 80 per cent recycled material. The production process uses minimal water and electricity, resulting in a near-zero carbon footprint. Manufactured by FlexStone, Corallite is not just a lighting and furniture range but a thoughtful expression of biomorphic design and ecological responsibility.
