With their recent innovation, Studio Segers has figured out a way to turn household plastic waste into something that is not only environmentally friendly but is also usable. Using household plastic waste such as yogurt cups, butter tubs and plastic bags, Studio Segers created an outdoor seating bench for ECO-oh. Here is a detailed report on the project on FURNITURE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (FDT).
Made out of 100 per cent recyclable materials including yogurt pots, butter dishes and plastic bags, the modular H-bench is designed to ensure functionality and offer comfort through its flexible design. Available with and without backrests, the H-bench can easily connect in a variety of ways, thereby offering endless configurations such as a stool, chair, bench, sofa, or any combination as small or as large as you want.
The polyolefins used to make the benches make the seating durable, weather and wind resistant, colourfast and low maintenance, thereby making it ideal for outdoor seating. The modules can be set with backs so as to suit facing the same way or opposite to create a quick connection. Available in an array of colours beginning with dark grey (black), medium grey, light grey to pastel green, pastel blue and beige, the H-benches come in a choice of a single colour or a mix.
