Design studio Interesting Times Gang and cooperative homebuilder OBOS have teamed up to create Veggro, an innovative range of partitions crafted from mycelium and orange peel. Currently in the prototype stage, Veggro offers two captivating designs, namely, Loom and Jugoso. Know more about it on FURNITURE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (FDT).
The Veggro prototypes currently offer two designs: Loom, featuring a mushroom-inspired pattern made from mycelium, and Jugoso, showcasing a geometric pattern based on orange vesicles, 3D-printed from orange rinds. These partitions are mounted on an ash wood frame, allowing for easy removal and replacement, providing flexibility for refreshing the interior.
Veggro represents the first outcome of the collaboration between Interesting Times Gang and OBOS, as they explore the potential of biomaterials to reduce carbon emissions in house construction. To showcase the product, a prototype will be reportedly installed at OBOS’s Living Lab in Oslo, offering industry stakeholders in the building and construction sector the opportunity to experience it firsthand.
