Wakefit recently announced the opening of its largest furniture manufacturing unit in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Spread across 600,000 sqft, the facility will reportedly host a dedicated space of 350,000 sqft for furniture and 250,000 sqft for finishing and warehousing.
Reportedly, the new facility has a daily capacity to produce close to 5,000 beds, 2,000 sofas and 3,000 dining tables with the ability to fully furnish nearly 1 lakh homes a month. The facility is expected to help the brand to be fully backward integrated in terms of design, manufacturing, packaging, logistics and last-mile delivery. Thus, helping the direct-to-consumer home and sleep solution brand to optimize costs at scale and pass on the benefits to customers.
The new factory reportedly has 200 high-end machines and is sufficient to fulfill the growing demand in Bengaluru and Mysuru. The company has invested Rs 20 million in establishing its largest factory in Hosur. Additionally, to strengthen its omnichannel presence, Wakefit is expected to add 90 stores in 25 cities in the coming three years. Also, the brand is in plans to scale its furniture and accessories business to generate revenue in a 50:50 split.
