As per the data from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the FDI increased to about $3 billion in 2021-22 from about $2.3 billion in 2020-21. Amongst the investment that has been across various sectors including furniture manufacturing, the Tamil Nadu Government signed 130 MoUs with companies for a cumulative investment of Rs 68,375 crore which is capable of creating jobs for over 2.05 lakh people, informs Tamil Nadu’s Department of Industries for 2022-23.
