The Salone Del Mobile, which was eagerly anticipated, has made a triumphant return in its physical form after a long hiatus due to the pandemic. Surfaces Reporter® (SR) and Furniture Design and Technology (FDT ) were thrilled to participate in the event, which showcased the latest trends in furniture and surface design.
This year’s exhibition had a strong focus on sustainability, with attention paid to the materials sourced and innovative production methods. Euroluce 2023, in particular, featured powerful yet sustainable light sources and flexible lighting systems that can adapt to various spaces and situations. Here’s a sneak peek of the show shared by Madhurima Chowdhury, Executive Editor, Furniture Design and Technology (FDT ). Pedrali presented its new collections through PedraliBacktoNature, where the first set staged the lobby of a hotel that was defined by the strong and modern character of Jeff, the modular sofa system by Patrick Norguet.
Designed by Gianni Pareschi as part of the G14 group in 1970 for Busnelli, the Fiocco lounge chair is a unique and precious piece. The chair’s metal frame is covered in expanded polyurethane foam and upholstered with an elastic fabric.
The Soft Blown collection by Lladro is a result of the brand’s initial partnership with Nichetto Studio, a renowned name in the global design industry. The collection consists of two lamps, namely the Afloat chandelier and the Airbloom table lamp, inspired by the lively atmosphere of warm, sunny days and the fun-filled world of balloons and inflatables.
The lamps are designed to resemble jewelry, with luminous ceramic elements arranged in a vertical series that creates a diverse and vibrant chain. As the chain ascends, it takes on various geometric forms until it culminates in the centrepiece that houses the lighting element.
The wooden texture of the collection complements various decor styles. The Secto Design lamps have simple yet captivating architectural shapes that have earned international acclaim from homeowners, designers, and experts in prestigious design competitions.
Since its inception, the brand has established a presence in the luxury lighting industry with its exceptional design products that seamlessly blend traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge innovation. Patrizia Garganti has been dedicated to creating bespoke luxury lighting designs, manufacturing them in Florence, and distributing them globally since 1976.
The collection is a revolutionary concept that combines avant-garde design with exceptional versatility, particularly in terms of creativity and functionality. Through the use of a variety of materials and cutting-edge technologies, each by Kerasan is transformed into a distinctive and one-of-a-kind masterpiece.
De Castelli featured a comprehensive study of the lost techniques of hammering and creating convex reliefs from the late 19th century, now revived by the brand for complex metal shapes. The result is a range of organic and natural biomorphic forms in new furniture and furnishing accessories collections created by top designers.
The Libro Chair by Gianni Pareschi, produced by Édition Busnelli, is a rare and exceptional piece. Its supporting metal frame is varnished and articulated in the middle to allow for a unique seat articulator of hinged pages on the same frame. The chair’s padding is made of nondeformable polyurethane foam that is CFC-free and 100 percent polyester fiber. This armchair is created using Busnelli lab technology.
