A critical dialogue on reforming fragmented practices and strengthening industry frameworks, reports Furniture Design & Technology (FDT).
On 7 February 2026, leading stakeholders from across India’s modular furniture ecosystem convened in Jaipur for a focused dialogue on the current state and future direction of the industry. The panel discussion, titled “Modular Furniture: Kal Aaj aur Kal,” brought together manufacturers, retailers, interior contractors, machinery suppliers, and sector experts to examine structural challenges and opportunities for long-term growth.
The session featured Mr. Digvijay Dhabriya, Managing Director – Dynasty Modular Furniture; Mr. Swastik Ranka, Founder – Paracasa Interior; Mr. Rajeev Bhargava, Director – Trendz and Styles; and Mr. Sachin Chaudhary, Director – Sumangalam. The discussion was moderated by Rahul Mehta, CEO, FFSC.
A central theme of the dialogue was the industry’s continued reliance on price-based competition, often at the cost of quality, standardization, and brand development. Panelists observed that the absence of strong consumer-facing brands and clearly defined quality benchmarks has contributed to inconsistent output, limited differentiation, and declining customer trust.
Concerns were also raised about the lack of standardized systems and structured processes across the value chain. Many businesses continue to operate through a fragmented, component-based model—assembling parts sourced from multiple suppliers rather than delivering integrated, standardized solutions. This approach frequently leads to execution gaps, variability in outcomes, and challenges in maintaining consistent quality at scale.
The speakers emphasized the need to transition toward solution-based offerings supported by clearly defined materials, processes, and measurable quality standards. Such a shift, they noted, is critical for improving efficiency, enhancing customer confidence, and building scalable business models.
Another key issue discussed was the unstructured expansion of manufacturing capacities. New entrants often invest heavily in machinery without adequate understanding of production planning, quality control systems, or core business fundamentals. The panel underlined the importance of structured training, mentorship, and industry guidance to ensure sustainable growth.
The dialogue concluded with a strong consensus on the need for industry-level standard operating procedures (SOPs), certification frameworks, and uniform quality benchmarks. Without coordinated efforts to establish these foundational systems, the modular furniture sector risks continued inefficiencies, inconsistent quality, and constrained long-term scalability.
