Founded by Sachin Gupta and joined in by wife Neha Gupta, Beyond Designs is a work of passion with a keen eye for detail and design understanding. What started as a hobby for Sachin opened up a world full of possibilities and creative pursuits for him with so much to explore, experiment and create continously.
A follower of maximalism, Sachin believes today’s well travelled customers want influences from around the globe to enliven their homes, “With such a rich art and heritage, it would be foolish to go for a minimal look,” he says. The boutique retails high-end furniture pieces with the use of exquisite materials like stone, mirror, metal, crystals, semi precious inlay, gold and silver leaf etc. At a time when India is looking at the West for latest designs in furniture, Sachin has created a mark in designing and manufacturing furniture in India to feed the growing luxury market. Sachin loves to travel around the world and likes to bring back the ethnic and original patterns and forms to amalgamate it into the new design ideas. He likes to create homes with designs revolving around the lifestyle and the culture of the clients.
He successfully got Beyond Designs into prominence by consciously providing quality in all products and keeping the integrity of design paramount. “Beyond Designs gives me the freedom to express the confidence, power and attitude of today’s design world. It also gives me the opportunity to say something about the way I want our modern India to be,” he says. Sachin’s style is an alchemy of disparate styles, genres and materials culminating in iconic environments. The brand also specializes in custom-made furniture and has an in-house unit dedicated to soft furnishings, glass and metal works.

Co-founder, Neha Gupta is the business mind behind the success of the brand, she brought in her international exposure and experience, as well as her deep appreciation for the timeless design heritage in the brand. Neha has been instrumental in first launching the flagship store Beyond Design Studio in MG Road and she now has a new role carved for herself. Just like Beyond Designs studio, they recently launched the Beyond Designs Home and Bistro—a long-standing desire to bring this concept to Delhi, which she has enjoyed at prestigious addresses on her extensive travels across the world. A place where you can now shop for carefully curated home accessories and treat your taste buds to meticulously crafted Modern European cuisine, along with some soul-satisfying Asian fare in a stunning, artful environment.
A charming classic-contemporary décor dotted with art and design, the bistro is passionately crafted with interiors full of chic rustic walls adorned with exclusive artworks and wallpapers; sophisticated seating of white marble top tables, chic cane chairs, classic upholstered sofas in exotic prints; and eye-catchingly displayed exquisite home accessories, some created in-house, others sourced from across the globe; and grand vintage-inspired chandeliers resulting in an enchanting space for memorable moments.
It offers a one-of-its-kind opportunity of browsing through exquisite handcrafted home accessories, some created in-house, some sourced from across the globe, and at the same time, tantalizing your taste buds with exquisite dishes prepared from the freshest produce. Healthy, home-grown, experimentative, holistic are the buzzwords. A penchant for experimentation, a love of art and antiques, a preference for fusion and an eye for the extraordinary may have drawn Sachin and Neha to the world or interior décor and furniture design, but what keeps them going strong is the passion they bring to the table.
Our products are 90 percent handmade and fall in the luxury category. We do not import anything except some lights and accessories, but we have seen great appreciation and demand for our work over the years.
FDT: What are your views on the 25% custom duty hike on imported furniture and parts? How will it impact the furniture ‘Made in India’?
It is a strong move by the government to give a push to the Indian furniture manufacturing industry. It will help cut down on the import of furniture, and bring the focus on indigenous manufacturer. This is good news to the Indian industry and the Make in India initiative. It will definitely have a positive impact.
FDT: How do you foresee the Indian furniture industry in the next 5 years in terms of growth, spending power and acceptability of ‘Made in India’ luxury furniture?
There has already been a lot of appreciation for Indian furniture industry, especially the luxury sector, in the past few years, as it has striven hard to be at par with international brands in terms of aesthetics, quality, finish and finesse. And this will only improve tremendously in the coming years. Our products are 90 per cent handmade and fall in the luxury category, we do not import anything except some lights and accessories, but we have seen great appreciation and demand for our work over the years. So I believe this will only improve going forward. And the ‘Made in India’ luxury furniture market will continue to flourish.
FDT: India is known for art & craft yet precision is something the world doesn’t look positively towards India.
India is a powerhouse of arts and crafts and in the past some of the locally made articles have fallen short on the quality standard. But over the past years, the luxury furniture manufacturing, including handmade brands, have excelled in the quality category. As the Indian furniture manufacturing marches towards achieving high standard, the finish and sophistication are fast improving. The gap between imported and the Indian furniture is decreasing. Today, I can say with confidence that most Indian furniture brands can stand up to any international brand.
