Catering to the customer’s versatility of needs and requirements, the sofa segment has seen tremendous growth in terms of designs, materials and innovation. The world of sofas is enormous and assorted – large, bulky and ergonomic in shapes and sizes, upholstered in innumerable materials and so on.

Kohli points out, sofas are everevolving in terms of design trends and functionality. “Customers don’t just expect their sofas to look good but also to be comfortable and multi-functional. As design trends evolve, we are seeing a phasing-out of the straight line and a shift to curved shapes. She further enlightens, “There is a come-back of metal accents, providing a bit of oomph to the space. Modular sofas and other seating are also gaining popularity, allowing users to set and re-set their rooms based on their evolving needs.”

Choudhary highlights elevated minimalism observed in sofa design. “Consumers are moving away from the overly sterile spaces that were favoured by many at the beginning of the pandemic, evolving and elevating the minimalism trend with considered restraint. Additionally, the ergonomics of the sofa are designed for long-duration seating, while delivering a design statement.”

"Sectional and modern modular sofa sets are popular as there can be several configurations according to the style."
