Humanscale recently introduced the groundbreaking Liberty Ocean task chair, making use of nearly 1kg of discarded fishing nets retrieved from the sea. This innovative chair range addresses the pressing issue of ocean plastic, setting a new standard as the first task chairs crafted from recycled fishing nets. Know more about it on FURNITURE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (FDT).
Derived from the minimalist and ergonomic design of the original Liberty office chair, created in collaboration with industrial designer Niels Diffrient, the Liberty Ocean chairs come in an array of colours and textile finishes. Retaining the form-sensing mesh back, a signature of Humanscale’s Liberty range, these chairs automatically adjust to the user’s body contours, ensuring optimal support and comfort.
With features like a pivoting backrest, self-adjusting recliner and contoured seats, the Liberty Ocean chairs provide a personalized and comfortable seating experience. By marrying the timeless design of the classic Liberty chair with the utilization of recycled fishing nets, the Liberty Ocean chair range takes a significant step towards combating ocean pollution and preserving marine life.
