The Travelers collection by MiDA-Lab features unique table lamps crafted from gray and white stoneware, partially glazed, along with materials like rattan, epoxy clay, metal, and wood base, incorporating both organic and industrial elements. Each lamp is a one-of-a-kind piece, meticulously shaped and textured through a process involving wedging, extruding, and assembly, showcasing the artisan’s patience and skill. Know more about it on FURNITURE DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY (FDT).
The lampshades are intricately handwoven around handmade metal structures, adding to their individuality. Developed through experimentation and research, this collection comprises multiple series of lamps designed for various living spaces. The chandeliers, handmade with ceramics extrusions, silicone modeling, plastics recycling, raffia weaving, metal casting, and LED light connections, stand out as unique objects of artistry.
At the core of these creations lies a bronze rope, meticulously crafted using the lost wax casting technique, symbolizing durability and resilience. Surrounding the rope, a twisting root unfolds, encircling ceramic and rattan segments that emanate dynamic energy and luminous light. Clay and rattan, being highly malleable materials, offer alternative surfaces akin to skin, while the inclusion of recycled plastics and textiles underscores a commitment to sustainability. These materials reflect the artist’s diverse experiences with local craftsmen across Spain, France, Lebanon, Peru and the Netherlands, contributing to the collection's rich and eclectic aesthetic.
